I have not done much investigation yet, but has anyone converted a W126 (560SEC) accelerator pedal to a 'conventional' pendant type & what parts are needed?

Also the action seems very 'spongy' what adjestments are available to remove the play?

Thanks

I too, have never been fond of the pedal in my 230E W124. It is stiff, and the push needed is high. When driving any other car, I floor the pedal so easily by mistake.
WD40 on the spring mechanism at the end at the side of the butterfly mechanismhelps, but little else. Getting inside the inner cable to gease/oil it seems difficult, as does the hidden spring mechanism at the pedal end. Any ideas?

Not dug around & seen a cable on mine, but if it is removable then you could lube with a pressure oiler as per motorbike.

Alternatively, you could try Venhill cables (www.venhill.co.uk). They produce Teflon (ptfe) lined cable which I used on my Moto Guzzi which traditionally requires a gorilla grip on the throttle. Big improvement. They could make a custom cable to dimensions supplied.
