I have changed the coolant level sensor a week ago and the light still comes on intermittantly.
Any ideas of loose wires/connections to check? shorting?
I do not want to take it into a garage to sort out.

Hi,
Change the washer bottle switch, due to the way they are wired, when it becomes faulty it puts the coolant level light on.
There not very expensive when i replaced mine it was less than £15.

Agree the sensor in the water tank, you can remove it and clean the contact but for the cost of a new sensor and a few cuts its worth replacing.
Does your interior light work ok?

Thank you Malcolm. Will give you the VIN - Its a 2000 R170 200k

The washer light only comes on when the washer bottle is empty (solved the egg smell - washer fluid didnt mix with stuff already in the bottle and gave off a chemical reaction )

So you suggest it is the washer bottle switch?????
It has also been suggessted that it could be the control unit on the electric fan??

Im confused?? Matthew

Washer fluid low error message

My CL600 just started giving me this message (full reservoir of course), now it is on all the time. It hijacks my message centre can this be removed with the reset button whilst driving.

I drained the tank and refilled it, pulled off the sensor wire and refitted it, to no effect. How do you replace the sensor as the opening is too small for a hand. Any suggestions and help would be appreciated

The header tank and washer tank sensors are resistive and wired in series, it could be either one
