hi everyone i have just got my 1993 e280 back on the road after the engine rebuild, but its been so long since i`ve taken her out i can`t remember at what temperature is she suppose to stay at, at the moment after say 20 miles she goes up to 80 on the gauge and then starts to increase to the next mark which i take is 100 then one of the fans kicks in and she drops back to 1/2 way between 80 - and the next mark, and then starts the whole process again after a few minutes, i`ve checked for any air locks but nothing, when she`s at 80 on the temperature gauge if you undo the radiater top you do get a lot of back pressure as if its an air lock

All sounds normal.

Make sure you take it for a run with the heater set to 'hot' so that you can eliminate any air locks from the heater system.

thanks for the reply richard, so im worried over nothing then,
i have taken her for a drive with the heater on full to try and free any air that may be present, but seams to be no air locks, should both of these cooling fans come on together or not,

thanks again malcolm, and yes your right, i do feel proud, when i done the engine rebuild, it was in the works car park believe it or not, after work and weekends, and every few days my work colleagues would have a joke and say, that will never run again. being self taught i had my doubts but would`nt let on, well a few weeks ago i turned the key and she fired up first time, with no oil leaks and no water leaks as yet ?? and everyone was shocked, and to be honest so was i, i still have a few small problems with the idle but im sure it can be sorted out, it may just need a good blast down the m-way, but at the the moment im staying on b roads and no more then 3000 rpm to run her in and make sure no problems arise. once again thanks for all the help everyone has gave me in the past
