CP3 Pump Leak

Hi, new to the forum and hope to be of use and in need of a little advice.

My C220 CDI had a minor fuel leak from the CP3 Pump which I should of addressed earlier but of course didn't! On the return from a trip between Cornwall and Essex the inevitable happened and she stopped, engine light came on lost all power and after pulling onto the hard shoulder and popping the bonnet diesel was pouring out from the pump.

I have removed the pump and after closer inspection noticed that the 6 T25 bolts that hold the two halves of the pump together were all really loose. I have ordered a seal kit and was wondering if I can just clean the pump up, split the two halves and replace the relevant seals then re-mate, tighten and re-install?

I will of course replace the poly belt (as it was drenched in diesel) and replace the fuel filter at the same time.

Any advice would be appreciated, I will take a few pics after the pump is cleaned up and post them in the hope that they may help others with a similar issue.

I was shocked at how easy it was to remove the pump, under 10 mins!

Quick update..

Pump stripped and cleaned in the kitchen sink much to the Mrs's dismay! Going to replace the seals as soon as the kit arrives (pictures to follow). Any tips on getting her started after re-assembly would be most appreciated.

Hi and welcome. Can't help much with your issue (not really much of a diesel man) but seem to recall seeing someone suggest engine start squirted down the inlet to get it to fire easier.
