Hi there,
I have a 1989 w124 series 300ce coupe which has a 12v 6 cylinder engine. I have a simple and potentially silly question.

Does this engine have a crankcase breather pipe feeding back into the air filter housing?

I cant see it for some reason.

There is a breather pipe from the camshaft housing on the top. BUt not one from the bottom of the engine.

Cheers
Shiru

Hello Shirobaby, With the 104 the pipe on the front is the breather, it does not matter from where the engine breathes, if you look on the site below you will see it is the only one.

Just to be pedantic, it's the M103 engine in your car. As far as I know the only breather hose on this engine is on the top of the camshaft housing back to the air cleaner as you described.

all engines have the PCV valve (positive crankcase Ventilation) or breather valve as you put it on the rocker cover. It is a legal requirement to reroute the crankcase vapours to the induction route to be burned as the emissions are very high.

If it were located from the crankcase itself it would have oil blowing out of it.

Every engine has one or the block & head would seperate under high pressure, if your rings dont go first.:)
