Hello everyone, I had my car recently to mechanic and they worked on alternator changed some parts, took the car few hours later all looked good, but
next morning when I tried to start the car it was cranking and did not start at first but I turned the key fob to 0 and it was still cranking then I removed the key
and it continued to crank like 2-3 minutes.

Can anyone please advice me what could the cause be since the car all worked perfectly fine until they worked on alternator.

The reason I sent car to mechanic was because in the morning when I tried to start it it was squeaking really loud.

Please if any expert have had anything like this worked on to tell me what could it be.

Model: Mercedes A 200 CDI 2005 W169

Thank you in advance.

do you think they made something and if it should be covered by what I paid already since this issue came only after they touched it?

Here is an update was about to go to mechanic turned the car on started without problem I realised forgot my wallet turned the car off and it started cranking. It took a while to remove the battery to stop it and it was making strange sound when I put the battery back and it wont start now. The video shows the sound I was hearing.

Is "the mechanic" an MB specialist? If not, I think you need one.

Others on here will advise better than I.

Thank you Ray, I don't think they are. I had this car for 3 years and no issues at all until I took it to them for glow plugs light and all started going bad since then. They were saying today its something inside where the key goes, but I saw a lot of videos and all points that starter is blown since there is no power anymore I can't even put my key fob inside. I will have it towed in the morning to official MB service.
I'm tired of paying them so much money and it's still not working as it should, I would rather now pay full price from what MB asks I'm sure it will be less then what I paid them over this two months.
Best Regards,
Vasko D.

Where are you located? Tell us and someone on here will recommend the right place to take your car. And that will probably NOT be an MB main dealer.

I can't comment as I'm in France.

Others?
