Creaking roof on R170 SLK

Is there anything that can be done to alleviate a creaking roof where the roof meets the windscreen or is it just a case of old age, Would lubricating the sealing area/rubber be a good idea

I have just received mine, and used it on my 2001 SLK, seems to have done the trick on the rubbers !!
