The threads on the bolt have rounded and it will not bit. Only one bolt on the hub is effected at the moment but the others are well rounded. I appear to be the victim of air gun useage.

Sorry, when you say rounded, are the bolts going round and round and not coming out

The thread on the bolt is rounded off ie not sharpe. the bolt will go into the hub but will not tighten up. In fact you can pull it straight out of the hub.

are you sure it's the right bolt? does it fit in any other on the same hub?

Yes it's the right bolt. It will not tighten up in any of the other (for want of a better expression) holes in the hub.

I do not know if they should be 12mm or 14mm, take a look compared to one that will tighten up, if it does the same thing in the other holes then it is the bolt at fault.

£1,80 from MB with 4 bolts tight you can drive slowly to a MB staion to get a new one

Other than that you could look at a helicoil insert - but I'll admit that I don't know if it is possible on a hub.

I have contacted MB dealership and they are talking new hub. On a 57 plate but not covered by warranty. I will have to talk to my financial adviser for a further mortgage!!

Hang on I just do not get this.

If 4 bolts all do up to the correct torque and only one goes round and round in any hole, then that bolt thread is stripped and nothing else wrong

Hi you need a custom one off bolt slightly bigger thread and re-tap the stripped hole to suit the custom bolt, it will be as good but might not sound as good so that might not be any good, I could make you a bolt & send it to you with a tap for a small fee

Rereading the posts. I'd agree with Malcom.
You say that only one bolt is affected and wont do up in any of the holes.
Just buy a new bolt or if as you say they are all slightly damaged then buy a full set.
