iv been seaching this topic for a while now, but come up blank! after speaking to a few merc nuts, iv been told that mercedes fitted the loom in the steering column for cruise control on certain models, in my case iv got an elegance, but dont know what else to look for, been on benzworld but all there cars have it fitted as standard (lucky people!), if mercedes did not fit everything, what parts will i need, appart from the stalk (obviously) and i know il have to get it star programmed as well

I assume its a manual? From memory autos came with cruise as standard.
I thought there was a control box needed - could be wrong though. Also, as the throttles on the 202s were manual cable affairs (my 220 petrol was anyway) I assume you'll need an actuator/ Also assuming it is a manual, does it have a switch on the clutch pedal?

Hopefully Malcolm will come up with a diagram showing the components but I suspect you're in for more than just plugging in the switch as you would be on later electronic throttle models. (As my Brother in Law did with his Saab for example).

its an auto 4 speed, i've not been able to find an aftermarket 1 either, most of my searches give me Carfi, but they dont list the W202 as a model they do, only A Class and B Class

i had 1 of these with a manual box. the throttle was the same as any other ive owned as it was an electronic pump and had the fly by wire throttle with the cable from the pedal going to a potentiometer (i think thats what theyre called!) and the rest done electronically

Interesting - my '95 C220 petrol didn't have the potentiometer, but a cable going directly to the injection unit via the cruise control actuator. The first time i saw a potentimeter setup was on my 2000 E240 so I assumed it was a later (post 202) development.
Was I right in thinking that cruise was only standard with the auto boxes?
