Cruise Control not working

Cruise Control in my 1988 300CE has gone away. Initial symptom: When engaged the car surged forward 10/15 mph above set speed, then reverted to not working at all. After car was shut down & retested, it repeated this action. Was advisd "it is probably the Amplifier".

After installing another Amplifier, there is absolutely NO RESPONSE at all.:cry: Am now concerned that a fuse was blown upon installation. However, I can't determine even IF there exists a fuse for this device.

Can anyone give me some advice as to this quandry? It can REALLY get expensive from here. You opinions would be most welcome.

Is the ABS warning light on? If so, could be a speed sensor. If not, please ignore me.

There are around 15 amps used in this series,all different, the system uses a hall effect sensor from the instrument cluster. If I can find any good info I will post it
