I have been offered a cruise control ECU, operating stalk and actuator from an E300. Has anyone had experience of fitting this to another vehicle i.e. from an E300 to an E280? I was wondering if a 'standard' wiring loom has the flexibility built in to accept other options. Any help or advice would be most welcome befor I commit to the project.

Generally if cruise was an option on your car when built the loom should have the ability to accept it as a "plug in" as they don't tend to make different looms for the same car depending on which options boxes are ticked!

There was no E300.

A 300E has an M103 engine.

Your E280 has an M104 engine, which has a throttle actuator, combining three functions in one part (Idle Speed Control, Cruise Control, and Electronic Accelerator).

A 300E uses a completely different set-up. It is completely non-compatible with the cruise control function in a 300E.

Many thanks one and all. I think I'll give it a miss until something more suitable comes up.
