CURRENT DELIVERY DELAYS

Hi all,
My daughter is waiting delivery of a new GLB through a leasing company. It should have been delivered this week but the leasing company tell her that her car is in Bremerhaven and they can't say when it will actually be shipped or delivered. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing delivery delays (fairly reasonable I would have thought given the current pandemic). She seems to think the leasing company are not giving her the full picture so I thought maybe someone on our forum may have an idea of what the actual current situation regarding delivery might be. Any info would be much appreciated.

I don’t think it’s anything new unfortunately, my W213 was supposed to be delivered in March it was finally delivered in July...

I ordered a new ebike back in June. UPS have just notified me that it will be delivered next week. The overland delays (it was coming from Kowloon) because of the pandemic were horrendous. On checking for myself, I learned that - somewhat surprisingly - ports and airlines are having difficulty coping with demand. It seems that people are saving money at a higher than normal rate, so are treating themselves to every kind of product imaginable.
Kinda Coronawindow shopping syndrome!

I'm awaiting delivery of an A250 from the Rastatt plant in Germany and have been told there may be a delay. 2020 to 2021 product changeover is set for November and apparently production is being prioritised toward SUVs as production ramps up.

Think yourself lucky! Mine was 9 months from order to delivery. Ordered last September (as in 2019) and finally arrived in June.

My order to delivery should have been pretty quick if it wasn't for Covid.
Placed order end of January 2020 with an original delivery estimate of April, but after April 1st the price would increase by £330 due to the new WLTP emissions testing. My dealer tried to get my car quicker and managed to get an earlier build slot which brought delivery estimate forward to March, but unfortunately my car was delivered to the dealer on the same day they closed for lockdown - March 24th.
I eventually picked my car up on June 26th.

If its in Bremerhaven, its built and awaiting transit - typically to USA that would be approx. 2 months, for UK less than a week - unless they have some sort of hold up at the originating location it should be here in a week or two - i would imagine the delay is on the UK side being in lockdown which eases next week - I would guess you should have it by 1st / 2nd week of December.

If you were to order a GLE they are built in The USA. Then they are all shipped back to Germany for final inspection before being shipped back out to the country of order. Work that one out on Mercedes going green. You would think all the inspections could be done in the USA then shipped to its final destination. Better let Lewis know. He’ll sort it

My order was "Frozen" at the end of Sept. ie. no changes allowed. I received word yesterday that the car is built and awaiting assignment to a ship for delivery to Canada. Estimated delivery Jan 6.

So, it seems that production is up to speed (6 - 8 weeks from order confirmation), at least at Rastatt.

My new A 250 arrived in Canada the third week of December. However, it can not be released for sale by Mercedes as the 2021 models have not been "Certified" by "Transport Canada".
It's quite ridiculous, actually. The 2021 model is mechanically identical to last year's car, so it should be an automatic thing, but starting a few years ago when Volkswagen tried to pull the wool over everyone's eyes with the diesel particulate thing, all vehicles from all manufacturers have to be certified every year.

Something similar happened to me. My car was on site from 16th December but I was not able to take delivery until this Wednesday. I was told this was to do with the car being embargo'd due to changes in DVLA registration process due to Brexit. Thankfully I was able to get car this week, I thought this latest lockdown might have pushed delivery out to February.
