Since my first post,I think I have got a little closer to the actual problem. On cylinders nos.1,3,+6,fuel is escaping between the alloy cylinder head and what appears to be a steel insert, screwed into the head to accept the injector.I have been told that this can be removed using a splined bar.Does anybody have any experience of this problem,or can confirm this is how the injectors are fixed?Thankyou.

It's very unlikely.

The insert is actually the pre-chamber - there's no, or very little, liquid fuel in there to leak out.

What's much more likely is fuel is leaking higher up the injector, probably from a leak-off pipe, or even the high pressure union, and what you're seeing is the odd bubble of combustion gas leaking past.

Replace the flexible fuel return lines on top of the injectors before you do anything else.

Have replaced return lines, the fuel is blown out of a small hole between the steel insert and the alloy of the head.At first I thought this was a machined hole, now I suspect it has been eroded by the fuel escape.Thankyou for your suggestions.

No - you're really on the wrong track here.
