Been rumoured for a while, would have thought it would be a bigger stake.

Testing the waters, they don't want to get stung like they did with Chrysler

Astons now will rust and breakdown a lot.

In all the years I have been driving, 99.999% of the cars I have seen broken down on motorways have not been an MB.

The only time in a relatively short driving career that I've been unable to proceed was a Mercedes.

Only regular rust make I see is Mercedes. 58 reg vans that rust, no one else's rust.

Lets hopes there's not too many Aston Martin Vans out there then ;)

Within the Aston fraternity, the cars are referred to as "Gaydon bubble cars" (they are made in Gaydon). Aston need no lessons from anyone in poor pre-paint preparation. They are (in)famous for bubbles around the door handles & in front of the hinges - the doors are aluminium. They also exhibit paint bubbles on the front wings -the wings are composite material. Aston sets new standards in complete indifference to customers when outside the 3 year warranty.

The engines and gearboxes are underwhelming in every respect.

Very pretty, but vacuous. I would never have one again.

It will be to allow Aston to meet future emission regs, and exploit electric technology.

BOF units I expect - cheaper than R&D for a small company.

Yes, Astons are right up there with Italian cars for build quality. Lol! ;)

and one of the lowest brand loyalty scores in the industry - fewer Aston owners would buy another than with virtually any other manufacturer, let alone so called "prestige" makes

who owns the rest of aston martin nowadays? ford owned them 100% at one point, as they also did Jaguar and Volvo, and 70% of Mazda. the question nowadays, is how many actual MANUFACTURERS are there, against how many car BRANDS are there (but owned by other companies?)

Lexus and toyota are seperate BRANDS, but are the same MANUFACTURER (or parent company, if you prefer)

Don't think so..

"Until recently, Aston Martin was owned by Ford but they sold the luxury sports-car company due to financial pressure. Aston Martin was bought by David Richards, the chairman of the motorsport and automotive engineering group; Prodrive."

Or perhaps more accurately

"Aston Martin confirmed that 90 per cent of its stock had been sold to the consortium led by Richards, and otherwise comprised of Texan banker John Sinders, and Kuwaiti investment firms Investment Dar and Adeem Investment. The agreed price for the majority stake was £480 million, says Aston; previous owner Ford, which will go on supplying engines and other primary mechanicals to Aston, retains a 10 per cent share."
