Hi, does anyone know if the changing of the dreaded Duo Valves is a difficult job or is it just a case of unscrewing one and inserting another? Also, why the hell are they so expensive? Can anyone locate cheaper alternatives or know of any source which actually has some in stock? Thanks

It's quite an easy job, with the hardest part being the separating of the hoses from the valve. The valve itself is usually held in on robber 'pins'. A quick look will tell you what I am talking about. The cleanest and easiest way to get everything apart is to use 3 hose pinch-off pliers. This keeps coolant where it belongs unless you don't mind a partial system drain to do the job.
By the way, what car and what makes you suspect the duo-valve?
