Dark blue

Hello, I have purchased my very first Mercedes Benz. It is in dark blue, image below. I want to protect the paint work from UV radiation during summer and would like recommendations on how best to do this please. Also, is has done 53,000 miles with next service due at 57,000 miles. Last service (A) was done at 41,000 miles in 2020. Got a quote of £580 all in for B service (oli flush & change [Castrol Edge C3 long life 5/30], brake fluid, spark plugs, oil ,air & pollen filter change, MOT) . Sound reasonable ?

Looks like Tanzanite Blue from the picture, just wash it and give it a polish occasionally. Mine is 13 years old and no issues with UV. It’s the red ones that tend to suffer.

Where are you based? We have some excellent Mercedes “Indies” on here that will look after your car much better than any dealer - or general garage

Mine's Tanzanite blue. I clay bar,polish & wax once a year and she still looks lovely even though she is 16.
I always intend to wax twice a year, but somehow it never seems to happen. He says typing with fresh emulsion on his fingers.
The Tanzanite blue seems to change colour depending on the illumination, from almost light navy blue to almost black. I love the colour.

I was going to suggest that the B Service seemed a bit dear (mine was £564 last year) but then noticed that it includes a few extras like plugs, so not too painful I suppose. However, as suggested in post #2, if you post a location up then someone could possibly recommend a decent independent relatively local for you.

As for the paint, mine is also blue though, being Anthracite, a bit darker. I had it ceramic coated when I first bought it, though this is not something I'd do again as I like to be a bit more "hands on" with my cars. I've recently been going round it with a fine toothed comb, polishing any hairline scratches out of the finish consequently removing the ceramic coating on a few panels. I'm slowly getting round to replacing this with Dodo Juice Purple Haze wax. This tends to enhance a darker coloured car, with blues in particular seeming to benefit from it, giving them a "warmer" appearance. You can get a 30ml trial type pot for under a tenner, which is all you'll need, and it will do several cars, or one car several times...

I wash my W220 with Meguires gold class. I use autoglym super resin polish then thier wax once a year. The paintwork looks stunning.

As a first time merc owner - my advice is get a good mercedes independent near you. They are worth their weight in gold. Do not opt for a German specialist, but a mercedes independent.

The service costs seems OK. If you you want to maintain mobilo, then dealer servuce.

I have Purple Haze Pro for Tanzanite. Try a second coat the day after. Layers the finish to an even better level.

Massive fan of Dodo Juice waxes and mix Scarlet Fever with Orange Crush on Hyacinth.

There are better waxes for longevity at similar prices but for absolute "lift" think that Dodo Juice great value before going into specialist expense products.

Most of the big / recognised name car shampoos have UV inhibitors in now, so if you wash your car every few weeks, it should remain in decent order.

I'm getting very good results with the likes of Meguiar's Liquid Ceramic Wax as a top coat, if you want to give it something extra every other 2-3 washes, without too much hassle.

Should be Brilliant Blue on a 2017 shouldn't it ? but it sure doesn't look like it.
