Hi everyone.
I am trying to tidy up the USB wiring for my RAC Dash Cam.
At the present time I am hiding the USB cable under the roof Canopy of my C180 Saloon.
Running the cable under the roof near the main windscreen ( if that makes sense)
I am fitting it so the cable goes into the glove box on the passenger side.
The cable has been pushed into the Windscreen black rubber surround down to the bottom of the screen.

This is where I am struggling it goes over the top of the dashboard and tucked
into the top of the glove box door.
It appears tidy but it has disjointed the door slightly.

I don't want the cable running down the central part of the windscreen
any other suggestions would be welcomed.

When I purchase a new one later in the year I will consider having it hard wired
by an approved agent

You should be able to get the rubber door trim off and then get down to the end of the dash. You should with a trim tool be able to get the end of the dash off and get into the glove box from there. You probably have a fuse box on one end of the dash and you could probably pick up an ignition switched or permanent live as you require

My routing is always along the headlining, down the A pillar (under the rubber / seal) then as suggested, into the side of the dash directly and into a fuse box if you're lucky.

Plastic trim tools are your friend

The best way is across the top of the screen, then across the top of the A pillar with the wire pushed into the trim gap. No need to remove the trim and disk upsetting and air bags. Then, as has been said, down inside the door rubber where you can then have a hidden route into the end of the dashboard into the glove box.

Thank you everyone for your comments I now have the cable down to the Glove box.
I need to find a way of getting the cable into the glove box without damaging the door or twisting it out of sync
But I am getting there with your support.
So once again thank you

I assume you're trying to get the cable inside the glove box to use a USB in there ??? Have you tried powering the dash cam from it? I ask because I tried this as a a temporary feed from Emily's dash cam but the USB in the glove box couldn't supply enough current to feed the camera.

I took the glovebox out of my SLK and the ran a power lead through the back of it, then refitted it.

Ah, don't power via USB.
Get a fused hardwire kit and piggy back a fuse in the fuse box on the side of the dash

What i did after hearing it was to buy a new ciggy lighter socket from eBay with wires attached and connect it to the wires on the existing ciggy lighter at the front .
The advantage is that you can plug the dashcam plug straight into this new socket without cutting it and it’s all correctly fused as well .
Steve at Avantgarde was the one I heard it from .

Great tip. Any pics?
I was going to hardwire mine, but it has to be plugged into a socket, or risk the Ariel not working. Job for the spring methinks.

I’ve had a look but didn’t take any pics , probably because any wiring I do is a mess .
it was this sort of thing I bought , just connect the two wires to the existing 2 wires by your chosen method and hide it all in the back behind the fascia
