Thinking of installing a dashcam in my W204 C-Class.
Does anyone have any recommendations for any particular make, and also does anyone have any experience of Halfords fitting their dashcam?
All advice appreciated.

Avoid Hellfrauds - fit it yourself - trim tool and a torx bit

I had a BlackVue in my w204 fitted perfectly behind the rear view mirror, no silly screens just set it up and forget it’s there,

I have a Nextbase one, really easy to fit as there is a cigarette lighter in the glovebox and a really convienient hole in the side of the glovebox to feed the cable through then just run it up the A piller

I see Nextbase sell refurbed ones through E-Bay now https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/nextbaseofficalstore

I used to use DOD many years ago and then the Nextbase units which were rebranded DOD units.

Bought lots of other units bits I’m in the 15 years or so I’ve been using them, lots of expensive and cheap units too.

I bought Viofo a129 duo? Units and been impressed with them so fitted them throughout the fleet. They have been discreet enough to leave in all the cars and fully reliable.

I've used a Ddpai 1 in my Smart & a Ddpai 3 in my Merc ..... never had a problem with either. I think the Ddpai was a round £60 & the later Ddpai 3 was a little over £100. Both Wifi connection to my phone, neither have a screen & are pretty discreet & out of sight behind the rear view mirror while driving.

Nothing but issues with my nextbase 622 with rear camera and hardwire kit., so much so im currently trying to get refunded, Never keeps settings ,Alexa never stays connected for more than a day , The aftersales and support are woeful.
It decided to stay on for 2 days and flattened my battery ... Thats was fun and red hot to the touch.

I have also used a Viofo for a few years without issue. There are modified firmwares available to up the recording bitrate for improved PQ which is already very good.

We had an 'ethical' hacker give a presentation yesterday and one of the demos was how easy it was to access Blackvue dashcams to get location and live audio/video.
If not locked down these ones with a 'cloud' connection could be a bigger risk then not having one.

I have a BlackVue 900S in the Vito and my Wife has an older Transcend dashcam in her A4 (cheap and cheerful). The BlackVue was easy to fit with no messing around with the fuse box because it plugs straight in to the ODB port under the dash. Just a bit of trim removal, tucking behind rubber door trim and a trim tool was included in the box.

I have a rear camera as part of the bundle as well but haven’t fitted it yet!
