Well my SL is debadged, but I have to confess that I didn't know until a Mercedes enthusiast at work asked me what model I had just bought. I hadn't noticed, probably because the car looks so stunning anyway. So now I am worried that I should buy an Sl350 badge or people will think I bought a bottom of the range!

Debadged means thieves don't know what you got.
This is 100% opposite of why I de-badged mine.
De-badging usually suggests you have a low-end model, in the range, but don't want to admit it
With the CL500 it makes no difference badged or not as there is only the one engine offered
I agree with you, my 216 goes like a bat out of hell, and no one knows what it is
Must be the 500 then as no other engine offered
