Dead Car.

Hi Folks.

2004 Mercedes c class 220 estate has just died. New battery a few weeks ago. Her indoors drove down to collect me from the local, mission accomplished but the car is dead. No lights, ignition, nothing, nought. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I 'd begin by checking the battery connections are secure, then putting the battery on charge. Check the earth strap on the bodywork too.
It's fully charged when it reads 12.6v+ from rest.
If its not a loose connection, its a duff battery, the alternator isn't charging it or there is a big battery drain.
It's not unknown for a new battery to be faulty. If it still doesn't hold a charge then testing the battery would be in order.

Yes I think I would get a Drop Test on the battery first to try and give you an indication of what’s happening

Issue was indeed a negative lead needing nipped up. The missus mentioned (casually) that she had went over a speed bump she hadn't noticed so the resulting thump may have caused the lead to move slightly. Also noticed that nothing, apart from the top cover, is holding the battery in place. I take it there is something missing?

Battery clamps, easy enough to fit should only take a few minutes. Just get the right ones.
