As per heading, not a sign of life, couldn't get into the car with the fob, thought maybe the fob battery was faulty, removed the key to gain entry, inserted the key, no life , will not turn, everything as dead as Hector. New battery fitted maybe 4 years ago now, the first lasted around 11 years.
Any suggestions? This is totally out of the blue, no warnings of any kind.

Sounds like a flat battery to me. Have you tried putting it on a charger?

I had the same issue had to jump start and leave it for 15 minute at the start. Which gave me enough power to go buy a new battery.

Have you opened up your old battery yet? See how dry it was?

Well you are partly right! Battery was flat, not seemingly because it was goosed, I had it jump started, bought a new battery, and a few hours later it is flat too!! Soo, I have an appointment with an auto spark tomorrow morning, I'm wrecking my brain to figure what it could be, thought maybe the boot light switch malfunctioning, but that would hardy have flattened the battery in a few hours, must be something pretty major. I am charging up the old battery to use for a jump start tomorrow morning, I was told to disconnect the negative overnight, not good having an electrical discharge like this.

It's most likely the auxiliary block heater. Quite common on cars that have them.

As above, must be pretty heavy draw to empty full battery at few hours...

Can that be disconnected? Presumably that isn't needed at this time of year, or is that too simple a solution?

Well, go to the top of the class LostKiwi, it WAS the block heater, drawing 20amps apparently. I am now negotiating with the dealer to see if he will take the battery back, it was diagnosed as a flat battery by Mobilo, no mention that the battery might be healthy enough, and that there might be something more sinister going on.
