Hi folks just bought a 51 plate c220 cdi and the wipers have stopped working The intermitant wipe was not working correctly (it was on all the time) and now the wipers have failed altogether.........motor??? if so where would i source one without taking out a mortgage ? thanks Del

Welcome, First thing is check the bonnet is closed correctyl, has a wiper kill switch on the o,s latch, would suspect the stalk has gone, common on the 203,s!

Nice one buddy i was looking under the bonnet at the time and did not realise it had a kill switch...... i only got the car yesterday in fact i bought it in Sheffield and got home to Morayshire at 1am this morning. The intermitant wipe was working when i picked the car up but failed on the way up the road yesterday (it was peeing it down all the way). It was on all the time, now it wont work in that position. Where would i source a new stalk? Thanks for your help i was not looking forward to replacing the motor

Your welcome, the only place i know is MB, im sure other will know somewhere, If you replace it your self just remember to disconnect the battery, otherwise you could throw up a srs warning!!!

Could just be a relay thinking about it!!

I think that the kill switch or a fuse is the first port of call,,I do not know where it is at this point in time

Fuse is number 46, 15amp, in the front o/s fuse board!! Kill switch is built into the n/s,bonnet latch!!

Checked fuses all ok. Wipers working now,(i had the bonnet up) only the intermitant isnt working could it be a relay ? if so which one i didnt get the owners manual with the car so dont know which one it is. In fact does anyone know where i could get an owners manual??

Are you sure you don't have auto wipers? The intermittant position is actually "auto" if you do.

That's a good point Uncle, my 200cdi doesn't have auto!!!!

Just been out to see and it turns out it is indeed rain sensing wipers but they are not working. Would it be the sensor on the screen or the relay? i havent got a clue if it is the sensor is it expensive? your help is much appreciated...Derek

PS I POURED WATER OVER THE SENSOR TO TEST IT

You really need to have it on a star machine to make sure its coded correctly, could have had a new screen fitted or as you say, a fautly sensor!!
