c180 1998 1.8 faithful friend but now retired- e200 w210 2000 avant garde
HI guys and dolls- i wonder if anyone can help with the following problems 0n my c180 auto 1998?
kids were messing with rear power windows up down etc child in front seat was closing rear right window from front console and also using the lock button-result was that window failed half way up !
i then checked all fuses and found nothing wrong-had to force window closed-result-window regulator wires came off pulleys-but motor seems to work (grinding)
later the other left rear window stopped working also no sounds at all -luckily in the closed position.
went to a mate who has a similar car to check it together-removed both door panels -checked fuses again all ok- then checked center console -removed it and disconnected it (single connector)---replaced it and tried to get wires back on pulleys or right hand rear door only to discover it was impossible to get to top pulley-the regulator will have to be drilled out to repair it.(this is what i will do)
light was fading so gathered up all the bits and pieces onto the back seat and went home -on the journey home i noticed the rear interior light was staying on -checked it at home and it would not go off at switch on over head console so removed fitting and bulb temporarily,
then noticed the boot release switch was staying illuminated and would not operate the boot release-also the central locking /alarm would only flash when opening car(one flash) but no flash when locking it (but it does lock)
the red light on switch goes off after about half an hour and the boot can be opened by pressing the lock at the boot but the key wont turn in it!(this is probably seized for lack of use!)

Any ideas on this problem ??
Would it be a good idea to disconnect the battery ??(i have no radio code)

thanks in advance-cheers !!
