Morning all,

May I ask what the best software would be to read fault codes etc on a merc w447 please? And where is get it

I heard that some things that you change require software to reset, I’m also thinking diagnosing a specific wheels sensor that requires replacing.
Also, Turning off engine management light, etc.

Thank you all

It depends on what functionality you want, your level of technical skill, and your budget.

On the simpler side the dedicated MB iCarsoft units are very useful - with slightly differing functionality levels there are the V2 or V3 versions or the CR PRO MAX (which iirc is multi vehicle) these are pretty useful tools for general stuff, there are online reviews.

you can also get MB STAR systems on a dedicated laptop which are fairly expensive.(they pop up on here from time to time in the sales ads)

the cheap obd dongles / generic code readers for £20 on eBay will be fairly useless.

Thank you for that, seems to me, the Icarsoft would be ideal for me. I’m pretty handy mechanically as that’s my background but equally I do like to stay in my wheelhouse to a degree. I currently have an abs esp intermittent fault , suspected wheel sensor . I feel I could sort that but I’d need to know which one. Hopefully this piece of kit would help me with that.

Interested to see what is said here, as I am thinking about the icarsoft v3, but wanted to understand how useful before investing
