Well, my father and I just got back from the air conditioning shop with the following news.

The high pressure hose is leaking, and the union between the hose and the condenser is seized. So, we are looking at a new condenser and hose, no problem we say, however we now find that you can't get Diavia or Harrison spares any more, so we are stuck and may have to use a universal part.

Anyone got any ideas, either for supplies of Diavia spares, or for how to break the union on the high pressure line without stripping the aluminium threads?

Cheers,

Richard

Air-Con leak

Richard, do not be afraid of universal parts, they can often be better than the original, often manafactured by very reputable companies and at much much lower costs.
Condensers in particular are grossly overpriced for what they actually are when purchased from a main dealer.
By the way, if the leak in the discharge line is due to abbrasion or damage along its length, just have it cut and coupled at the point of damage, therefore negating the need to remove the pipe at-all.

Best wishes, Lloyd

A diesel
If you do need to remove the union onto the condensor a little heat will help as it will expand the aluminium.

Well, some good news.

I got a reply from Delphi Lockheed, and the parts are readily available.

The condenser is part number 022305OR and costs £135 +vat
The receiver dryer is part number SSP017048/1 and costs £32 +vat

I was advised to use Reader Aircon on 01483 726300

Seems like they are not so rare after all :D
