Hello all

I have owned this car 3 years now and have only just noticed that the leather has been dyed!
Recently I went into the local stealership for a couple of bits and the guy put the chassis number into the computer.
It came out with the complete spec of my car from new which included the 'light brown leather'.

The seats have allways appeared to be a rather strange orangey browny colour, especially the passenger seat (but not the backrest part of it?).
The guy recomended a leather cleaner so I thought I would go for it.
The leather already appeared darker inbetween the creases, and this stuff lightened the colour to what I allways expected light brown leather to look like!

1)Does anybody know if MB ever dyed their interior leather?
2)Does anybody have a pic of a 'light brown leather interior'?
3)Does anybody know a better cleaner to remove this dye as its still a bugger to get off on the passenger seat?

Thanks again all for your support, I dont know what I'd do without all your knowledge out there.

Cheers

Paul

It might just be easier to recolour the leather in the shade of your choosing.

There are specialists out there that will do this for you but its not cheap @ anywhere upto £500 for the privilage.

Alternatively, perhaps these people may be able to help you. They are very knowlegeable and specialise in leather restoration.

They seem to be having problems with their site... Their order form page works though???

https://secureserve.co.uk/liquidleather/orderf.htm

They sell restore kits (just got one today), colourwashes and all sorts of stuff so I would give'em a try on their telephone number and see what they suggest.

Bump.

The sites back up and after trying this stuff today, I can confirm everything they say about the products. My leather now looks and smells better than it has done for a number of years.

I've done quite a bit of research on the internet as to finding the best products for leathercare.

A product range that seems to be very good is "Leatherique".

check out: http://www.leatherique.com

Their "rejouvinator oil" is excellent at restoring and conditioning leather.
