Has anybody used Dipetane? It's an Irish product that everybody here swears by.

The nearest thing I can compare it to is Marvels Mystery Oil. It's basically a mineral oil, but supposed to be great for injectors and keeping stuff moving nicely.

I'm not sure if it's placebo or not, but I feel like my valve lifters aren't as tappy with it.
I have used Dipetane, put a treatment in a Totota Hiace,it was running a bit rich as they do.

Makes sense.

By them refusing to tell you gives it a certain allure.

Seems a nice bit cheaper than 2-EHN though.

How much , got a link ?

No link I'm afraid. I pay about 34 euro a gallon in my local factors.

Just had a look online and it seems to be kinda pricey online.

For my dosing of 2-EHN when buying 5L it works out at less than 30p a tank .

But there is people that don't mind being done at the pumps .

Right. I didn't think of dosage. That is definitely way cheaper then Dipetane then. I must investigate.

I looked up for the ingredients for Dipetane and there is nothing in there that is not already in the tank , no 2ehn or anything fancy, in fact its very hard to find any info on it !!.

I have run vegetable oil and biodiesel for years and used lots of different additives in that time , I have finally settled on 2ehn as my preferred power kick added to either diesel or biodiesel in my om642.... but basically all these additives are doing is advancing or retarding point of ignition.
Vegetable oil retards ignition slightly hence why the engine runs smoother with less diesel rattle, two stroke oil is doing the same thing.
My preferred is Archoil AR6900 D max and every now and then a squirt of Startron Starbrite which is a diesel bug killer that also contains 2ehn

I'm learning a lot in this thread!

I must say.. I don't like the smoke and mirrors that Dipetane has. I mean it's a small Irish company, they can't have discovered anything that ground breaking, because if they did it would be a global product, and ultimately bought out by Shell/Exxon.

Is 2-EHN good for petrol too?

Ok, so cetane improver is for diesel... and octane is for petrol.

I must look up octane booster, because dude.... I tried out some premium petrol a couple of weeks ago and it was much better!

I would be certainly looking for a diesel additive that helps eliminate the common problem of moisture/water build up in the diesel tank.

Startron Starbrite is the product for that

It kills diesel bug but breaks it down to let it pass through filters rather than clog them up, disperses water as well and it has 2ehn in the mix... I add it to my biodiesel and it gives exactly the same kick per measured amount as adding 2ehn alone.
It is the only diesel bug killer that will not block filters.

As previously said the diesel additive is important.I treated a Hiace before with the Dipetane mentioned. It would belch out black when given the shoe especially with a bit of a load on,after the Dipetane treatment it changed to brown. I think this treatment worked. To put it into the C220 that is the consideration.

Because I've had my other diesel car in excess of several years and can look back at it's previous MOT smoke opacity test accelerations results .

And the latest

Not bad for a 2003 Euro 3 nearing 190K .

Every time I look up a recommended proven diesel additive Redex is there, says its been around since before 1950,and is a diesel system cleaner, conditioner.

In

2015

Over the years, to meet the demands of modern cars, Redex have innovated and added to their product range. This year, the Treatment and Injector Cleaner products are merged into one easy to use fuel additive for petrol or diesel, to make it easy for drivers to select the product for them and save fuel.

Think that is impressive.
