Hi All,

While in france last year I used V-power Diesel in from shell, & was very suprised at the differance it made to the cars performance. However once back in wet & windy land, I am sad to say went back to supermarket fuel £££££££. I am very interested in finding out what the rest of the oil burners consider to be the best stuff to use, & why?

Cheers,

Bruce.

I almost exclusively use regular Shell Diesel. I have used V-Power in Europe and my 320CDI ran very well on it. I would not put supermarket fuel in any vehicle of mine that I was intending to keep for any length of time.

I must say I've never noticed a difference in performance between any diesel fuels whatsoever. Mine runs pretty much the same on vegetable oil as it does on diesel ultra.

Its a different story with petrol though, my tvr hated 95RON fuel.

My work involves me driving about 2000 miles per week in a 2006 2 litre Ford Transit, as you can imagine I get through quite a bit of diesel. I now use only BP Ultimate, there is a marked difference in performance and MPG, you really can tell! Of course, I use the same in my E300TD, its worth the extra few pence per litre.

I have tried BP Ultimate diesel in my sprinter and noticed absolutely no difference to performance or MPG (which varies widely anyway depending on how I drive). I have also tried a product from Millers called diesel power plus which is a combined injector cleaner and fuel improver. It also made no difference which was dissapointing as it really transfromed my Tdi Landrover. I was in a shop last week and noticed that Millers have now introduced a EuroIII/IV specific version which might be worth trying?

I can only say that I can tell a difference, prior to the Transit I used a Toyota Hi Ace, clocking up 180000 miles in three years, if anything, the effect of using BP Ultimate was even more pronounced. Maybe the higher the state of tune of the engine, the less the effect, after all, neither of my vans could live, perfomance wise with a Sprinter or Vito!
