Diesel injector leak off pipe

Hi I am currently dealing with the dreaded black death on my OM651 in a Vito taxi , and am struggling to reattach the leak off pipe . It is a 2013 with Delphi injector . I can't get it to push in and then seal , it is super tight and doesn't want to stay in . Any advice is welcome

I fitted new 'o' rings, that seemed a tad too big. So I had that issue.

I applied petroleum jelly and then they seated. I assume they will swell, so if I remove I'll need new 'o' rings again. So likely a better grease would be the red rubber grease.
