I love my '81 300SD but on occasions after driving for a length of time or stopping repeatedly on short errands, the car will not start. It does not crank or make a sound. It is not the battery. After 10-20 minutes it will start again just fine. I have taken it to the shop but unless it is actually not starting, they cannot diagnose the problem. Has anyone had this problem and, if so, what was the solution?

Regards,

Debaron

Aye,
Clean the battery connectors up, and check the engine to chassis earth strap.

Can you hear the solenoid clicking when you turn the key and it won't start?

The ignition barrel on my 190 won't let you start the engine after you've turned it off without taking the key all the way out and putting it back in again.
