So looking at early S212's I just can't quite see the difference in styling between the Avantguard and Sports model, can anyone confirm what the differences are?

I thought the Sport had a different front and rear bumpers, skirts, wider wheel arches, bigger wheels and lower suspension

It does. Deeper bumper recesses, has a few extra vents here and there- nothing that stands out, you have to look for the difference, a front bumper lip usually in gloss black, and the suspension is 20 or 25mm lower than the standard.

Matty, clearly you're going for the Brabus-tuned E350.

Externally the Sport has a different front and rear bumper, the main difference in the front bumper is the addition of a lower lip and the rear bumper has different cutouts for the exhaust to cater for the stainless exhaust tips

The side skirts have a different profile and of course the wheels are 18in as standard and are staggered front 8.5in with 245 40 18 tyres and the rears 9.0in with 265 35 18

The Sport package also includes uprated discs and pads all round, from memory the front discs are vented and drilled 240mm dia and the rears 300mm vented and they are very good. The suspension sits 25mm lower with stiffer springs and damper ratings

Interior wise the 212 pre-facelift Sport had a different steering wheel to the Avantgarde but the later came with leather as standard whereas the Sport did not. One caveat to this is that you could order the Sport pack and fit it to an Avantgarde spec car with luxury pack so mine doesn't have the Sport steering wheel so sometimes all is not what it seems

Hope this helps and just ask if you need any more info as I've got the sales brochures for 2011/12 cars

it'll be an E350 MSL tuned Craig :D:cool:

seen this one which ticks some boxes (although not airmatic) but it's an Avantguard 125 edition so I think it sits between the two?
Link over my price but I'm thinking if I can get Steve @ Avantguard look it over and he gives the thumbs up I could possibly look at a trade sale which should knock a bit off?

thanks Malcolm, think that was exactly what I was looking for, any idea on the 125 edition? Am I right in thinking it sits between the Avantguard and Sports?

Appreciate it John, If I could have had a 230 then I think there may have been one going for sale soon ;)

Sold Matt, got a decent trade against the E63....
It's an estate youre after isn't it?

well done, good trade deals don't come round often.

Yes, looking for an estate, just makes sense for us occasionally.

stop it (fingers in ears and chanting lalalalalalalalalalalalala)

been and looked at it, not nearly as nice as I'd hoped plus the mileage is a bit high for the wifes personal taste

That's a disappointment, it looks swish in the pics. Just goes to show how much they hide.

Hey, our 07 plate 211 is on 215k miles now and still going very strong. SWMBO was put off at first but now she's some experience of how a really well-looked-after high mileage car behaves (just like any other) she's fine with it.
