quite simple to do isn't it, all in and working, only thing that threw me was that stupid digibox, who would have thought when the red light is on...the box is off and when the light is off the box is on....Chinese aye lol.
Getting about 55 to 60 % signal strength on my drive but all channels are pixelating quite bad, nothing is watchable really. there must be a way to improve that antenna I took the inner lead from the 4 aerials leads( the black tabbed one)....if I cant get a smooth channel I feel as if ive wasted my money and time... :( its horrible being a perfectionist at times LOL

You are lucky to get anything at all in a driveway, and you have the TV in the house nearby, just go to a better spot where you might normally choose to stop.

Would this work on a W209? It seems so as mine has the AV inputs.

Where did you get such a small digi box? I just googled bush digibox and they are all massive household sized ones.

Hi, I am trying to set up a digital TV conversion in a 03 Mercedes S320 (Command 2.0 Widescreen). I test fitted the digital tuner (mains power) to the analogue tuner AV1 port and with AV1 selected on the command, there is no picture. There is only a black screen and a TV icon with an X through it in the top right corner. Get same result when connected to AV2. I have also test fitted a DVD player and was getting sound but no picture(TV icon with X). According to the manual, the TV icon with X means "picture not available". Do the AV ports need activating with STAR or something?. The old analogue TV used to work perfect years ago. Any help appreciated. Thanks

The ports do no need activating they are live when selected, do you get any sound.

Hi, Yes I'm getting perfect sound on both AV1/AV2. Picture of screen attached. I tried a reset of the comand unit from the engineering menu to no avail.

The reset will not work on this, are you sure the video signal is in the correct format. The old analogue should give snow and noise all over the screen. I have never known a TV tuner not give a picture from the AUX 1 or 2

There is no snowy screen on any of the channels when the TV tuner is selected, just a black screen with the channel number and the "no picture or sound icon". However I noticed when the ignition is on, TV selected and when I turn the key to start the car, the TV does go all snowy for a split second and then goes black again. Thanks

So could be a muting problem. do go into the old TV menu and see if it will tune and search.

Hi, I have exact same problem, I can confirm the TV will perfprm a search on old analogue channels. It finds them but no fuzzy background.

This could be normal then, its hard for me to remember, so there could be a muting circuit.

Ok thanks, any idea how I unmute it?

Also if say one of the optical cables broke would I get just a "no TV" error?

Also if I get a bad signal on my digital tuner, will the TV still seethe EPG graphics etc.

Thanks

Fish

All I can do is to have a play with mine later in the day, the TV tuner is not optical on these, I will post back.

Just been out to mine and you should have all the old tuning menus, and with TV selected and you press a number button that number should appear on the screen.

Thanks for looking.
Yep mine does that too.
No snow though, but did get snow once at work.

On the AV channel with digibox I can hear sound, but am only testing with a rubbish indoor aerial, should I see the EPG graphics?

Oh and on a mains supply near the steel garage door . just to make it even more difficult

Also my indoor TV says input from my white, red yellow is VGA PC, not composite?

I would drive to a known good spot (high) and try. I have an antenna network in my garage for testing as band 5 is not that good in any garage.

I think that we can say no snow on the old system, just the odd time maybe, so we can forget that one.

You should get the EPG guide up on the screen from the digi tuner.

The EPG is broadcast as part of the digital data stream so you're not likely to see it if you can't get a picture.

Yellow is composite. VGA is a 15-pin connector using an analogue RGB signal with separate sync signals and other stuff.

Actually, thinking about it, does the sound break up? The video, audio and EPG are all part of the same data stream. If it's a weak signal problem it's possible that the error correction applied to the audio data is sufficient for it to be heard but the video data is beyond correction. Equally, if the audio is okay, it may not be a weak reception problem.

Have you tried the composite connection onto a domestic TV? Even without an aerial signal you should see the setup menus, etc.
