hi, i have a new 08 ml can i change the digital speedo from kph to mph.

hi, i can not find it in the handbook, i took it to my local mb dealer and they said it can not be changed to mph, but there is a thread on what car from someone that has done it, who knows ???

This is usually a coding thing. Dealers will not do it as they say UK cars must display KPH if the speedo only has mph markings. This is wrong, the car must be able to display kph when needed i.e. driving abroad.

Find an indy with STAR and ask for deletion of the UK mode..

i am almost certain if you go into the vehicles setting in the on board computer you can change these settings, Also if you change from km to miles it will also change the speedo values as well

Their is NO owner option for changing the display to MPH . As Whitenumisis says above :- by law the vehicle has to be able to display both MPH and KPH, and as there are no KPH markings on the speedo display the digital display is locked at KPH. Whether an indy would be prepared to unlock it is a moot point.
Vehicles suppied to other markets than the UK have the option in the menu to change the display. This is in the handbook.

As Splatt says... but I think the discussion comes in the interpretation of law. The vehicle must be able to display kph but not permanently.

I have had this "UK mode" removed and would argue that my vehicle can display kph should the need arise (travel on the continent).

If one only drives in the UK what need has one for the kph display?

hi, thanks very much for all the info, sounds a bit of a grey area, i think i will forget about the digital display and use the normal speedo.
