Dipping passenger wing mirror

I have just bought a 2014 E220 (W212) and the passenger mirror will not dip when reverse is selected, I have followed the instructions in the manual and it refuses to do it, I'm wondering should it do it, could it be an option not fitted. There is no indication in the manual that its an option but the manual is not that good.

Oh and can anyone tell me what option code "347 Emergency call system ECall Europe" is, I have no SOS switch in overhead panel

yes when setting up the light was on, after a short time the lamp does go off

There are two ways to program the mirror, one which uses the memory button and one method which does not, to me suggesting it should do it whether or not you have memory seats, I could of course be completely wrong

No, Craig and Ciaran are correct, I’m afraid. The mirror can’t dip and return to the correct position if it doesn’t know where to go back to and that requires the memory seat option. Sorry!

Thanks for the info, as I suspected the handbook is less than clear make no clear distinction as to the option.

My C200 Sport doesn’t have memory seats - but the passenger mirror dips on engaging reverse and is adjustable.
Is this perhaps only the E Class that doesn’t do it without memory seats?

W210 and W211 didn’t auto dip without memory seats W213 does dip as long as the mirror selector is on the pax side and you’ve set the dip position. Don’t know about W212 as I never had one.

Yes, thank you, I appreciate that. I was just wondering if the mirror package which I have also included the rear view dipping feature as this is what happens on my particular model. The words ‘mirror package’ seemed to me that it may include the dipping rear view as well as the auto-dimming inside and out.

I think it depends on the model. On the GLC it’s called the “memory package” (seats, mirrors, steering column) but that is only available as part of the “Premium package”.
