Hi all,
I know about the curtain rod idea for making a dipstick for the ATF but...
Is there any reason you could not do the same thing for the Engine oil???
If so can someone please supply tin / Max measurements for a C270 CDI (2003)..
Thank you in advance..

not 100% sure here, but I think the engine oil is measured as a depth from the top as the dipstick is of the conventional design, as opposed to atf where you are measuring the depth of the fluid from the bottom of the sump

So are you telling me that someone with a "conventional" dipstick for measuring the engine oil level could not use a curtain rod to get a measurement from the bottom of the sump??
Never mind..
I shall drain my oil the refil with the recommended amount and then use the curtain rod to get the measurement from the base..
Sorry for bothering everyone !

you could, but you would have to cut the measuring tool to exact specs, the ATF is easy as your only measuring how deep the rod goes into the oil, but with the engine dipping, if you dont line up the rod correct when you dip, you could easily be out by a few litres
