Can anyone explain which side does the brake pad with the cut out which looks like a letter C on the back of the brake pad go to is it the piston side or the outer side and does it go to the top of the piston or the bottom of the piston on a mercedes w212 e class 2012 2.1 auto deisel front brake.
Thanks

The cut out is for the wear sensor and generally goes to inside and at top. Check your old ones when you pull them out.

Cheers
So the cut out should be on the piston side and at the top

As Mark A has stated, not all Mercedes are the same so check the Location when you remove the old Pads. Although the Sensor is generally is inserted into the Outside Pad, (nearest the Wheel) on the front and the Inside Pad on the Rear.

It's always a good idea to take a photo before you start to remove the Pads for future reference.

The direction pads typically have an ARROW on the back, that goes in the direction of rotation.

The half moon cut-out is for the piston, so should go on the side of the calliper with the piston
