I do not have my car user manual to hand right now. Can anyone tell me the procedure to disable the passenger airbag? On starting a fleeting message does come up on the hazard panel that seems to indicate that it is already disabled but I'm not sure

It should only be done by using the correct child seat that disables it.

Okay, so if the message I see is correct, how do I re-enable?

It re-enables automatically once the child seat is removed.

What you are seeing is the self test for the system indicator..
