Hi,
i'm preparing to install the mod to my S203 (MY Feb 2003) C220, the photo's in dieselman's post #1 are not showing,
If Dieselman reads this or anyone has any copies is there any chance I can have copies or someone could re post them?

Cheers all!!

Feb 2003 - S203 C220CDi (T-Model) estate. 120000 miles

Just to update,
I have installed the mod and impressed with the improvements (Big thanks to Dieselman for his work).

the connections were as follows:
MAF signal - the CPU plug 4 - Pin24, Yellow & White trace (assumed plug 1 nearest windscreen)
EGR act - CPU Plug 3 Pin 50, Yellow & Black trace
+12V - CPU Plug 3 pin 37, Yellow & White trace

note - the +12V and EGR Act are twisted pair.

The above is guide and is how my car is wired. I would suggest as it has been mentioned many times before that you confirm the cables with a meter or continuity tester.

I bought this car a few months ago as a cheap stand in while my S500 is out of action (and to save my fuel bill) and initially it was in limp with the M55 swirl flap problem.
long story short it quickly appeared maintenance had been neglected. After a service and filters the flaps were removed with bolts to plug the holes and after cleaning the EGR I pulled the vacuum pipe which left me with the car no longer in limp but Star showed EGR error and there was a lot of black smoke at acceleration which was worse some times than others, I felt like the turbo may not be giving its full effort and especially when cold if I floored the accelerator the dash would intermittently show EPC error until I released the accelerator and at times (when it felt like) acceleration was very week with loads of black smoke with no dash alerts or star errors apart from the EGR.

After installing this mod I noticed an IMMEDIATE improvement, there is a lot less smoke on acceleration (although there is still some at full accel), there is a lot more power. very happy chappy :)

problem I still seem to be left with when I took it for its first run after the mod is when I floored the accelerator to the kickdown sw the EPC error showed although it seemed to improve as the engine warmed.
I also got the reported turbo lag when pulling away from standstill but thats a small price to pay for the huge improvements the mod has made!

I think there is another problem that I have not ID'd yet that may be causing the EPC error, if anyone has any suggestions what to look for and what errors I should look for in star i'd welcome anyone's suggestions.

Thanks for a great improvement Mod!

**UPDATE**
I'm pretty sure the EPC error is not related to the mod and is an underlying issue that was present before the mod.
I cleared the fault codes and the next day after cold startup I floored it 5 or six times and everything behaved fine then about 5 mins into driving I floored it again and it showed an EPC error.
I stopped and connected star straight away and the only code was:
P1222-002 B37 (accelerator pedal sensor) Sensor 1 The signal voltage is too high.

W202 Cdi EGR disabling

Hy There!

I do this mod on my W202 Cdi /1999 year/ and it works fine! No more Limp home :D
On 202 the wire colours and pin numbers is the following:
On the ECU and the transducer/maf sensor is same.

12V = Plug 3 Pin 38 - Yellow-Brown
EGR signal wire = Plug 3 Pin 50 - Yellow
MAF signal wire = Plug 3 Pin 18 - Yellow-Green

Hi! Can you please post a picture of those connections?
I'm heaving trouble find those on my W202 C220 Cdi :/

THANKS! :)

i did the 210 320cdi today.

connections were...
MAF sensor signal wire = pin24 connector no.4 yellow/white
EGR vacuum transducer power supply = pin37 connector no.3 red/black
EGR vacuum transducer switched earth = pin50 connector no.3 grey/black

before mod, at idle maf sensor voltage = 2.28 egr closed / 2.02 egr open
after mod, at idle modified maf sensor voltage = 2.28 'egr closed' / 2.00 'egr open'

the car drives well and logs no faults, all in all seems to work very well indeed.

Hi there, I’m new to the forum and I’m trying to fit one to my E320 CDI, making the kit isn’t the issue haha it’s getting my head around which one of the 3 wires goes to which pin, is there any chance you could write them on the top image I’ve posted if it isn’t too much hassle !? Thanks

Stage 6: I can see that MAS pin 5 was yellow/white (image wire2). Note the chaffing of all wires into the connector. This could well need attention soon but I don't have the tools to do this so this is one for the garage.

Stage 7: Back to the ECU box. Unplugged the row of plugs and looked for matching wire colours. Image wire3 is plug 2 and I found the 2 wires required.

Stage 8. I don't have a soldering iron or any skills with one, so I took the Scotchlok route. I know these things can be frowned upon but needs must. I connected my pre-wired shunt harness. Image wire5.

Stage 9: Snapped these together and tidied up a bit. Image wire6. Image wire7 just a view from further back.

Stage 10: Locate EGR transducer on NSF inner wing, image wire8, and disconnect, image wire9.

Stage 11: Put the cover back on the ECU box and put my working MAS in, as I've been running around with a faulty one to prevent smoke screens.

Stage 12: Road test. Initial reaction was "great it now revs past 2500 rpm" but what about the smoke?

No smoke to talk about on light load, which is an improvement so once the motor was warmed up, I took it along the A34 for some kickdown tests. Still a fair amount of dark smoke but less than before, so this is probably due to "coking" up plus it's a 99,000 mile motor. I'll stick with it and see if the kickdown smoke lessens, although TBH, this is such an improvement on light load I think this shunt mod has worked nicely.

So big thanks to oigle and everyone on here, dieselman, Alexanderfoti and Alexander Patient and anyone else who assisted.

Can this mod be applied to my 2014 w205 Blutec C class diesel, and if so can any one post a schematic diagram to use. I ask because I am having trouble with my egr valve and I think this mod would help enormously.. Thank you...

Hello, I think it should be possible without remap via Vediamo or DAS Developer, I have done this on my W204 and it is less than one minute job.

Many thanks for your reply, but Vediamo and Das Developer just seem like Chinese to me. But the guy at the garage might know what it is...I will ask him Monday..

Hello everybody!

I tried to do the mod on a S203 270CDI 2005 with Carlsson chip. The intake manifold is brandnew and I deleted the EGR mechanically too.

Cables used:
Yellow/Black (EGR signal / ECU PIN 50 plug 3)
Yellow/White (+12V / ECU PIN 37 plug 3)
Green/White (MAF / ECU PIN 24 plug 4 / MAF PIN 5)

Unfortunately it doesn't work. I checked all the connections more then ten times...
I got the error code P1403. "EGR airflow under minimum value"

But this is the only code, which means the detection (or not detection...) of the unplugged valve works.

I'm pretty shure it's because of the chip or because of the bigger airflow caused by the chip.
Could trying out different resistors between diode and MAF signal solve this problem? In which direction should I go, higher or lower? What do you think?

EDIT: I tried out the mod without the chip - same result.

Hello does anyone know if you have to leave the eye valve open or closed after doing this mod?
