In post 150 oigle answer soupnazi about this theme:
When I installed the shunt I found some vacuum was still passing through the egr solenoid valve. Not much but if left unchecked it would have built up and may have caused the valve to open slightly. I jammed a 4 or 5mm ball bearing in the suction line between the solenoid and the egr valve and put it back on. Its now blocked solid!

"The advice from dieselman re setting up the shunt is to disconnect the electrical fitting on the transducer and tape it up, thus totally eliminating any chance of EGR actaution. I have done that. No issues whatsoever."

Unless you have a internal leak in the transducer that allows vacuum to access the EGR valve anytime when the engine is running, it should be ok to only pull off the electrical connector and leave the vacuum hoses connected.

I think I've got it.
After installing the shunt the ECU set Limp mode after a few minutes driving.
DTC show: P1403-032 EGR Negative control variation. EGR-rate is to low.

So I replaced the 470 Ohm resistor in the shunt with a 330 Ohm.
Then the car could run for more than half an our in various conditions before Limp mode was a fact.
Same DTC.

So I replaced the 330 Ohm resistor with a 200 Ohm and the Limp mode is history, at least until now.

Ordered a new batch with 1N4004 from:
(May be unnecessary, but at least they have a litte bit thicker legs).

Made a new shunt with this 200 Ohm (instead of the 330 Ohm) as show in the attached file and the car has done about 1000 miles without any errors.

The erratic idle (almost stalling) about 9 sek after start is gone.
The black smoke when idling in Drive is gone.
The heavy black smoke when flooring is nearly gone, so little left that I have to look concentrated in the mirror to see any.
The boost are better, I would say very much better.
The feeling of a engine that is breathing more effortlessly, both on the highway and into the town, what can I say.......

May be a slightly increased fuel consumption, we're talking a decimal or two.
I,m not an electronic expert, so I don't know if this will affect the ECU in a negative way, but so far so good with everything.
I've connected the Shunt to the wires with scotchlock and connected the diode and resistors with crimps for testing purpose.
Considering soldering later.

The only concern now is the Tranny and the rest of the driveline, because it is very ease to be a bit eager on the pedal.

Hi. I've made this mod about 3 months ago on my 2001 C200CDI W203 OM611 according to dieselman's post 1 and it works perfectly after I've driven it for about 2000km. EGR deleted, vac line to actuator plugged, connector to actuator left unplugged, soldering done inside ECU box.
I've noticed that engine warms up slower then before due to no more hot gases in to intake.
Connections in my case:
MAF sensor signal wire (pin5) = pin24 connector no.4 yellow/white
EGR vacuum transducer power supply (pin2) = pin37 connector no.3 yellow/white
EGR vacuum transducer switched earth (pin1) = pin50 connector no.3 yellow/black
Maybe it will be useful to someone, I will share few pictures too. I was using DMM for double checking.
Thank you.

Why did you need to delete it?

Sorry but you did.....removing or disabling any factory fitted emissions equipment is illegal and punishable by a £1000 fine....£2000 if its a commercial vehicle. And no....I don't know of anyone prosecuted either. But there have been roadside checks done in London for things like this and removed dpf's etc.

Is the person actually located in the UK as elsewhere in the world there aren’t such legal requirements

Good point...I cant tell that.....but anywhere in Europe and the USA it would be the same.
