hi everyone, this experience i have just had is with my mk4 supra "rocket ship", not my merc, however this could apply to the merc breed also. my speedo needle started fluctuating and somtimes not giving a reading at all. so started thinking about loose connections and the dopler pulse sender etc.
so i contacted my local auto wiz who fitted a speed limiter removal software module some years back, and from my description of the fault he felt the problem would be in the speedometer receiver in the clock itself, not the sender or the wiring etc.
so i contacted the toyota main dealer and found out that the there was 3 parts available for the speedo, two electronic modules and the clock and needle, circa £50 each. so £150 + lab. circa £250+ vat.
before i went ahead with the new clock assy i thought i would trawl the mk4 supra site, i am a member and from the forum from several suggestions i chose the simple one, which was, dissconnect the battery for 60 secs, and then see if this has rebooted the console ecu feed box module. IT WORKED ! was i pleased, because as well as the assonance i had saved £300 and my car never left my driveway. I CONTACTED MY AUTO ELECTR GUY AND HE SAID THIS CAN WORK, BUT IT IS QUITE RARE. ? OH YEH !
so the message here is that if you do not have a company car or lots of money, then always look for information and have a go before going to the experts. this site has also saved me much money based on information provided, i also have made every effort to provide information to other members. WHAT DO YOU THINK. ? herbiemercman.http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/a...ent.php?attachmentid=20747&stc=1&d=1352392786
