Do all ML320's have an electronic dipstick?

According to the manual it works via a painful sequence of button presses while the odometer displays something like this "--------------".

Tried it, but it doesn't do anything. Just returns to the mileage reading!

My ML is a 2001 W163 ML320, is it supposed to have this feature and if so am i doing something wrong?

Guess it could be a dodgy sensor or something but not sure if its meant to be there in the first place!

Can anyone help?

Should be wait for the display to go to "---------" and push button on twice.... Doesnt work on mine, but at least I have an "old fashioned" dipstick to depend on!

Maybe I need to slaughter a chicken and recite Iron Maiden songs backwards whilst looking into a mirror?

Some more replies will come in,,perhaps as you have the dip stick they have taken it away
