hi guys, was having trouble with white smoke belting outta exhaust.

have flushed engine twice, put in top grade synthetic oil,

drained deisel tank, as someone suggested too much water in bad diesel,

still have prob and def oil thats burning, by the smell of it,

but whats my options, new turbo, new accuater, recondition turbo, second hand, and whats the cost of any/all of the above

Hi I would get a garage to have a look at it. could be turbo or head gasket? best to have a proper inspection then at least you will have an idea of cost dependant on findings.. sorry not much help...:)

mech. told me turbo needs changed, but ye know what thry can be like

really im trying to eliminate other causes, and if its turbo what are the likely costs and are any of the above realistic , ie second hand turbo etc

Left hand side as you look at the engine, its the one below the turbo going to a plastic housing which connects to a large charge hose, quick release clips, or, right hand side top hose going into the inlet manifold will do!!

thers a hose running from the crank shaft breather/oil separater to big hose that goes from maf sensor housing to turbo, is that the right hand one you mention

is it feasible to buy a second hand one, or can the actuater be replaced if turbo fans are ok?

is there any way of stopping the turbo sending oil into system, even for a short while, to prevent the smoking, say for instance the car was going to MOT etc

If it is the turbo don't keep driving it, you will do some real expensive damage to your engine sooner or later. (at least when mine went it was under warranty & MB had to fix it)

Befor you fork out for a new turbo I would like to suggest that you try a diesel fuel additive from Millers Oils (Diesel Power Sport 4) there was a case that was made know to the company of a vehicle that had turbo problems, it was lacking power and smoking, the guy had this problem once befor and changed the turbo he used the fuel additive on the second unit and it cleared the problem completely... A bottle of DPS4 is about £12.00 froma a retailer ie Halfords... Try this if it doesnt work it cost £12.00 if it does you saved your self a few bob..
