Driving home and closing fast on a BWW turning left into a side road, triggered the crash warning exclamation mark triangle and beep. ( I had plenty of room not to hit it)

Then lots of Orange writing on the dash basically saying that traction control and crash prevention unavailable. Car went into limp home, with severely reduced power. Ignition off and restart and all good. Took it into work and this is what Snap-On found…….

Any Idea before I get it booked in for a Star session?

I did have an issue a few weeks back after hitting a large bump on a slip road, when the engine cut and I coasted to a halt. Ignition off and on again and it was back to normal. I did find a slightly loose battery terminal and it had been fine since.

That's an beginners list. To get a long list you need ABC, SBC and all the other gubbins on a 15 year old car that suffers battery drains....

sounds like your two incidents upset the car.... could be something needs to be reset / replaced, and when it scared its self yesterday something couldn't operate correctly so it threw the orange spend time at dealer message

could be a later software version on one of the modules that senses this garbage will help it cope with life

in the Jag F type if you hit particularly viscous speed bumps it can cause the pedestrian bonnet safety bit to pop up.... 2 k fix, one guy had it happen twice (lives near nasty bumps) first time after a fight Jag paid. But refuse to give a decent fix / software tweak, by the second time, they'd amended the handbook (but not told any customers) to say never go over speed bumps at more than 20mph or it may pop …. judge upheld Jag's argument and on second occasion the owner needed to pay

Hardly worth mentioning...

The R230 SL LK’s now has “won” the most faults at the GTG at Amberley when Cole did his scan.

I only had 1 in my W211 :(

Thanks for all the replies!

All the codes were cleared a few weeks ago, so these are
all new since then. Though since then, it did go into the dealer for an airbag recall and they said that they would update any outstanding software.

At least the stop-start works perfectly, so I know that there is nothing wrong with either battery!

Wow!!
Mine had a flat battery and caused all sorts of issues. 33 fault codes.
Yours is top trumps though!

Hi Trev we share the same name, same birth year (but born opposite sides of Manchester) and more recently the same battery probs on our same cars - touche !
I replaced rear with a non MB battery which I regret now , but of my recent scan I have 16 faults on my car and 49 stored faults-Went into limp mode with broken Crankshaft sensor which I got fixed for £70, I also just changed the front battery after 15 years of service for a MB one, Rear Bat still drains far too quickly so will start working my way thro faults which can cause a drain when not working - MB garage said start with the broken alarm siren which will have stopped working when the small batteries conked out- why did they ever design a siren with built in small batteries !?

The alarm module has rechargeable batteries so that in the event of some ne'er do well disconnecting the battery prior to making off with your pride and joy the alarm will still sound. Life of 10yrs?, approx £115 from Mercedes for a replacement, an hour or so to replace.

Technically speaking, you've experienced what's known in the trade as a SHF - Sensor Hissy Fit.
Becoming quite common in modern cars. It replaces the older version - CPP . Carb, Plugs and Points malfunction.
