.....if so, read on.

Please note the following is my own genuine thoughts on this subject (as Colin's cheque hasn't cleared yet ;))

A while ago I had a problem with my E320 CDI as it was pretty sluggish, and didn't appear to have the get up and go of my old W210.

Several specialists had suggested replacing this and that more in hope than expectation, only one specialist though otherwise.

Ah, faulty turbo was the response, no question.

So after a little saving, it now has one and I can report that it now has a spring firmly in its step, you can feel the boost.....

The work was undertaken with the minimum of fuss, and Colin showed immense patience with a 6ft idiot getting under his feet for much of the time.

I can also report that new refreshment facilities have now been installed at the expense of the agricultural machinery :D

My only disappointment was that I didn't see Freddie himself in action -> http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showpost.php?p=387781&postcount=3

So in summary if you want dispassionate diagnosis, advice, service and coffee, visit MBS in Southampton http://mbsofsouthampton.co.uk; if you wish to remortgage your house each time you need an oil change, visit any dealer on the MB network.

Thanks again Colin...

out of interest, what fault codes were you getting?

the star live data test on full throttle would show up a lazy turbo, or at least the low boost to point to it. or was it the sticking vanes causing overboost and emergency program?

over or under? we see over pressure with the cdi3 turbos, a definate turbo fault. as you will know under pressure can have about a zillion causes, but over boost can only be the turbo (on cdi3)

Having being a breakdown tech for the brand when the 211 come out, we see a couple a week, hence product knowledge taking over!!
