E-Classes of all ages are needed to go on display at Mercedes-Benz Solihull showroom. You are requested to take your E-Class to provide a line-up of models through the years to celebrate the launch of the New E-Class on Thursday 11th June.

I agree with you, but its hardly a car to drool over. Us 211 owners are happy with our cars, and alas if I replace my E class it won't be with a 212 but with another 211 or if I do well an S class.

I would buy a CL500 or a 126 SEC as a everyday car,I do not go more than 1500 miles a year in that now, anyway my income has dropped now with the low interest rates

They also want to borrow older E Class models for a static display in their showroom. I thought of offering the TE, but it would need a new wing and a couple of dents knocking out first-perhaps I could get them to do it as my display fee.....? :lol:

Its interesting that MB value their heritage. I have an interest via one of my sons in aircooled VWs - try getting a VW dealer, or VW themselves interested in that heritage, which is arguably the biggest in the automotive world.

If it had a decent service record they would fix it free as numerous threads show they have done under the 30 year rust warranty.

I actually like the look of the new E-Class, an instant liking, but havent warmed to the W204 and it took 2 years to warm to the W164!

And, partly because of a crap dealer, my rust was only repaired after a lot of phonecalls, visits and then only the parts where I could personally find and show them rust. Not being an expert, I struggled a bit.

No I don't. It used to be 8 years until 1998 -those ended in 2006. The 30 year rust guarantee began with Mobilo on cars registered on or after 24th October 1998.

the best thing about the rust guarantee is it preconceives that there will be parts available as well? porsche have a marketing tool "we will guarantee the supply of parts as long as you have the car". i have my 11 yr. old e300.td. 7 seat. est. i have "waxoiled" it twice and repaired some cosmetic rusting above the wheel arches and inside all the door seal rubbers, the latter is a difficult messy job but if left unattended with the almost permanently moist rubber seals severe damage would occur, many owners will not know about the door seals until they pull the rubber back and look at the excessive corrosion. i also lost a front coil spring suspension cup due to corrosion, port side was perfect with underseal in tact, stabd side underseal allowed wet to enter. i bought a mk4 toyota supra ( black flying machine ) new at the same time as i bought the merc. no corrosion at all both kept in same environment. however good to hear new mercs are improving their anti corrosion design, but the old merc "waxoiled" is ok for me. herbiemercman.

Another guy at my office as a W210 same year as mine... I have a slight and I mean slight tiny amount of rust on the front wing. where as his is truly swiss chesse... and he has half the mileage...
