Do you use aircon other than in hot summers?

Just a general question; of course we all use the air con on a hot summer’s day, but other than running it once a month to keep it working, I never use it. I notice that every time I put the climate control to ‘auto’ the air con light always comes on and I promptly switch it off but just wondered whether I was alone in doing this? Do others just let ‘auto’ do its thing Even if it is putting the air con on?

All the time on auto, if you don’t the seals shrink and you lose the gas .
Remember that it dries air , not just cools it .
Use it or lose it buddy

Me too, it is on all year round. Stops the car steaming up in the winter :)

Likewise - mine is always on. I read an article years ago that recommended using aircon all the time and onw point of the article was that with it switched on, the air you breathe is conditioned. I hardly ever even change the temperature setting either - I find around 26 deg is fine.

Always on. My first car with aircon was a Renault Laguna, in March 2000. In the (nearly) 22 years since then, I've never switched the aircon off for a single minute.

A few drivers think that AC only works when the dial is set to cold, it doesn’t it works at all temps and dries the air so your screen clears faster.
Not using it is false economy as the seals will dry out, you’ll lose the gas and have to pay to get it re-gassed when you want it cool in the summer.

So in summary, use it or lose it

Not only will the seals dry out, if you leave it too long, a re-gas will not fix it either as it will leak out anyway as the seals will need to be replaced. I'd imagine that would be a costly and time consuming exercise.

26 is way too hot for me too (even MrsLK can't stand it that hot!)

20/22 for me.

Always on, 18° most of the Year 20°-22° around this time of Year
I’m a big fan (not…) of those drivers who whack the heating temp to max when they get in in the winter - I’m guessing they think it will heat the car faster…

They then turn it to full cold once the car gets too hot for them… just set the temp you want and leave it alone FFS…:D

Yep I do that in the R.
Heated seat on 2, rear heater set at 24, front at 22. For some reason if the rear heater is set lower it makes the front feel cooler.

I learned the hard way. Used to turn it off and in both of these cars the aircon packed up after a while. I now leave it on auto all the time and it has been fine. Everyone above is so right here !
