Does anyone know if there is a safety sensor on the engine oil level? i.e a sensor that if there was not a lot of oil in the sump it would stop you starting the car to prevent ceasing the engine.

There is an oil level sensor on your car ,W202 C180, but it does not cut the engine if the level is too low, it just illuminates the warning light in your instrument panel.
