Does Audio 10 have Pre-Outs? 2001 W210

All, Car is W210 2001 - I have (im pretty sure) the Audio 10 head unit with RDS and CD Multi changer in the boot. Now, a question. Does the audio 10 have any pre-outs that I could connect an amplifier to?

www.audio-10.com will give you a definative answer and spec, but from the research I am on (about swapping my audio 10 out), nope, it doesn't

If an ICE expert chips in with a different view, I'll live and learn, but to date, everything I have read says no.

I took the Alpine Audio 10 out of my '01 SLK yesterday to change it for a better unit and I can confirm that it does not have any pre-outs.

Damn thats a shame - thanks guys for your responses, I wanted to keep the standard look so to speak but also have the option to add in an amp and some uprated speakers and poss a sub enclosure - I seem to remember - back in the day there was a piece of kit that allowed you to connect an amp via the speaker cables - I might even still have it in the garage somewhere along with an old skool kenwood amp. Time to go digging I think!

the aps 30 has a menu selection for Becker or Bose or Harman Kadron amps. Not sure if the audio 10 has the same secret menu and selection. The bose and harman k were options weren't they. Did they use the audio 10 to play through?

If Myros is correct, I may know someone willing to sell a good condition Audio 30 so you could keep the OEM features (non Sat Nav I think though)

You can feed an external amp via the speaker outputs by using a potential divider made from four or eight resistors. Or you can use an amp with high level inputs or use a JL Clean Sweep or similar to feed your amp. Finally you can probably find someone to modify the Audio 10 with line-level outs - it shouldn't be too much of a task for most electronics wizards

I'd do the line-level outputs - nice and straightforward

I have tried selecting the other options on APS 30

and can convincingly confirm, that unless you have one of the optional amps fitted, nothing good happens. Indeed, the sound goes all mushy and horrible. Reselecting Becker(internal amp) restores the beauty of the sound. The secret menu is got at by pressing the extreme left and extreme right selector buttons at the same time from the row on the bottom of the unit. You then scroll through using the tuning arrows/cdtrack selector arrows.
Amongst other things, it gives you the model number, serial number, and confirms you have a speed pulse and so on. I believe the secret menus is used by clever electronics types to set the units up on installation. GOK how I found it, but it took a lot of button-pressing antics and patience.
