My advice is beware of glossy impersonal websites. Genuine people are happy to be photographed and named.

Well, Car Match Ltd really exists and their registered office is 34 Firbank Close, Enfield. EN2 7ER. However, the internet domain carmatchltd.co.uk is owned by Digital Photo Work Ltd who it would appear are the web designers. And the phone numbers given on the website are not Enfield but greater London (020 - incorrectly shown on the website as 0208 which is not a real STD code at all).

If I tried to contact a company and the phone number didn't exist, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole. Also I would really expect any company which has been around for 25 years, as this one claims to have been, to have an office which you could visit, by now.

I can't see any company doing any kind of business fraudulent or otherwise if the contact details don't exist. How can you get in touch with them? So that they can steal your money.

I took a quick look at this website and there appears to be only one landline (telephone) into the business. No mobile. You would expect to see several telephone numbers but I could only find the one. There are several email addresses but that proves nothing.

I notice Car Match Ltd expect a fee for bringing buyers and sellers together but I see little else on offer. What do these fees provide to customers? You can bring buyers and sellers together without paying fees to third parties. Professional advertisers, like AutoTrader, have something to show (magazine) but it is unclear what Car Match Ltd have to offer.

I also noticed there were about a dozen endorsements from happy customers but not one endorsement actually mentions CarMatch Ltd by name. The endorsements could be made up or be genuine but apply to some other company. Endorsements, if used, should be verifiable if challenged.

CarMatch Ltd mention they are credit brokers and can arrange finance, if necessary. I am left wondering what their primary role is? What service do they provide?

Their website is also incomplete because they mention 'contacts/web links' but I've had a look and can't find anybody else affiliated/linked to this company.

There was a 'visit counter' at the foot of the webpage but it is not working. This, too, gives the impression of incompleteness.

I have no idea if the company is genuine but if it has been in business 25 years then I would have thought they would have made a more professional job of their website.

Perhaps they should be given a miss. If their website is amateurish then the chances are the company is run by amateurs too.
