My bad back was getting a lot worse in that little low down hard ride of an A class so I traded it for this 2021 Qashqai. I drove it up to Bude today and absolutely loved it. Comfortable, tons of space, everything easy to reach and a better set up. Touch screeen sat nav, easy to set up Bluetooth phone etc even for an old git like me. Three year warranty covering parts and labour and three year breakdown service, I’m converted.

Over the last twelve years the wife has owned four Nissans , one Micra and three Jukes and all kidding aside we have not had one bit of bother with any of them.

Servicing costs are sensible and the fuel consumption is acceptable around town and good on a run.

The fact i would drive her new generation Juke to London from Glasgow without a second thought says a lot.

The new X Trail will be a consideration when i decide to re-shuffle the garage as i have not been having too much luck with the German marques of late.

My sister owns a Qashqai, the only problem she has had in 4 years of ownership is the headlights. They are xenons and veery expensive to replace. I think they do not like the pot-holes, the vibration upsets them, so she has had to replace one, with a second on the way out. I think it is a known problem. Otherwise all good.

Our 17 plate X trail (family bus / workhorse) has been faultless in three years. I rate them, not the Juke though, it's offensive....

A Head (or in your case back) not a heart purchase, but a good one none the less

Wife & daughter both bought new Nissan Jukes, Tekna + models with very high spec. Initially everybody was happy, then compared to a MB you start to notice the little things that that could be better.
The 360 cameras are lower resolution than Mercedes use, the picture is nowhere near as good. The rear camera does not retract and gets dirty very quickly meaning the rear view is almost useless. Despite being the highest specced version, no electric seats, let alone memory seats. A right pain when you swap drivers. All the electrical toys appear to be cut price versions of what MB would use.
Both batteries needed replaced under warranty, along with the front suspension arms. The engines are gutless, 3 cylinder 999cc turbo units, and the MPG figures are easily beat by my C250d! I'm now struggling to see the point of small petrol engined cars and hating it more each day.

Not really a fair comparison is it - a £40k + 2.2 diesel against a £25k 1.0 petrol.

They have their place as does a 4.0 Twin Turbo V8 , for the three mile commute to my wifes work at 30 mph and the occasional trip into the city there is no need for anything else , the 1.0T does the job perfectly without the concerns that running a DPF / Ad Blu equipped diesel over similar mileage.

As a "petrolhead" would i own one as my only vehicle then no , but as a reliable tool to do a job then it fits the bill perfectly as would a similar small petrol engined offerings from any other manufacturer.

No need for 500nm of torque when sitting in the daily traffic jam.
